Repeat Prescriptions

We are pleased to announce that we are now in a position to again offer dispensing patients the ability to order their medication online. The new process is much easier to use and totally secure. We hope that you will find these changes beneficial.

In order to use this service you need to register for it. Registration is quick and simple. All we ask is that the next time you are in the surgery you ask at reception to register for online prescriptions.  You will need to provide proof of identity. They will ask you a couple of security questions and then print out your username and password.

We can also register you by phone. Please feel free to give us a call and, once you have answered a couple of security questions, we will give you your username and password. We ask that you call us after 11:00 to do this.

Once you have your username and password you will be able to register for systmonline, our new online repeat prescription ordering portal.

Please allow two full working days for prescriptions to be processed and remember to take weekends and bank holidays into account.

The dispensary phone number is 01638 560649 and is answered from 09:00 – 11:00 and 14:00 – 15:00 every day. This is for enquiries only, not for ordering repeat medication.

Medication Reviews

Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip.

Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.

Prescription Fees

Help with NHS costs

In England, around 90% of prescription items are dispensed free. This includes exemptions from charging for those on low incomes, such as:

  • those on specific benefits or through the NHS Low Income Scheme
  • those who are age exempt
  • those with certain medical conditions
  • More information is available at NHS Choices

NHS Charges

These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.

  • Prescription (per item): £9.65
  • 12-month prepayment certificate (PPC): £111.60
  • 3-month PPC: £31.25

If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months or more than 14 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.

  • Telephone advice and order line 0845 850 0030
  • General Public - Buy or Renew a PPC On-line

There is further information about prescription exemptions and fees on the NHS website.

The Rookery and Local Pharmacies - Notice to Patients

Staff of The Rookery would not seek to influence patients’ choice of pharmacy services in any way. Those who would rather use another pharmacy that is more convenient should continue to do so.

  • Boots: Monday – Saturday 08:30 - 18:00, Sunday 10:00 - 16:00
